History
Making and installing energy efficient replacement windows in Michigan since 1950.
Our founder, Maurice Blyveis, worked on aluminum airplane engineering during World War II. His dream was to start his own business utilizing his engineering skills. He wanted to provide a quality product that people would want. In 1950, he began making aluminum storm windows and storm doors in Grand Rapids under the name Ajax Aluminum.
Over the next 22 years, Ajax grew in employees (including wife Marion and son Nate) while Maurice continued to sell his quality products to lumber yards. In 1972, his son, Nate, took over for his father. The United States was in the middle of the “Energy Crisis” and demand for energy efficient products was increasing. As 1980 rolled around, Nate brought Ajax into the vinyl replacement window business. Aluminum storms were about to become “a thing of the past.” Today Ajax is known throughout Michigan and northern Indiana as Polar Seal Window Corporation. Polar Seal Windows is still a family owned and operated business in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Today, Nate’s son Jason is the owner and proprietor. With 40 employees (most of whom have been with the company for over 10 years) and a 78,000 square foot state-of-the-art factory, Polar Seal has certainly grown from the old days. Yet some things have remained the same. Customer satisfaction is still number one. Polar Seal cares about making the best vinyl windows, providing unparalleled service and being proud members of our communities.
At Polar Seal Windows we know you have a choice when deciding what window is right for you. And we want to earn your trust every day.
